DHCP Setup for MAC OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard & 10.7 Lion

Click the Apple then on Location and then Network Preferences.

In the Network window if the airport is listed you can choose to set it up with DHCP or you can Add an Ethernet connection (if one is not already available) by clicking the “+” in the lower left corner of the window.

Location = Automatic
Configure = Using DHCP
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, etc. will populate once the connection has been established.

Click Apply.

Click the Advanced button for additional settings.

Click on the TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 = Using DHCP
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, etc. will populate once the connection has been established.

Note: To manually set the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Router address click on the up-down arrow to the right of Configure IPv4 and select Manually instead of Using DHCP. You will now be able to manually enter the information for these fields.

Click Ethernet.

Configure = Automatically

Click OK.

Close the Network window, saving changes.

Note: If you are the administrator of the computer you can click the lock on the main Network window to prevent changes to these settings.
