Windows Live Mail 2011

Because Windows 7 does not come with an email application pre-installed customers will need to purchase a 3rd party email application or use Microsoft’s recommended Windows Live Mail, which can be downloaded here: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail?os=other

To create a new account, click on the Accounts tab at the top and then on Email.

Enter your MHTC E-mail address, Password and Display Name.
Select Make this my default email account (optional).
Select Manually configure server settings.
Click Next.

Enter the following information:
Server Type = POP
Incoming Server Address = mail.mhtc.net
Logon user name = Should already be filled in with the first part of your email address.
Outgoing Server Address = smtp.mhtc.net

Default server Port numbers are 110/25; these typically do not need to be changed. If you experience problems sending emails try using outgoing port 587 instead.

Click Next.

 

Click Finish to return to the Windows Live Mail inbox.

Each e-mail address will be displayed in the left pane.
Note: Identities are not supported in Windows Live Mail.

If you need to change or review an existing e-mail account’s properties click on the Accounts tab, highlight the mailbox you want to edit and then click on Properties.

Make the appropriate changes to your settings, save them and then close the window.

Note: Click the Advanced tab if you need to set up your email to leave a copy of messages on the server. This is important if you check your email on multiple devices such as a cell phone, work and home computer, iPad, etc. You must also specify a number of days to leave messages on the server or you may get an Over Quota! message from MHTC.
