Dial-up Setup Windows XP

Create an Internet Connection:

Click the Start button and select Control Panel from the menu.

Windows XP gives you the option to view the Control Panel in two different views: Category View and Classic View. Use the link on the left side of the page to switch between classic and category view.

Category View
Click on Network and Internet Connections then on Network Connections.

Classic View
Click on Network Connections.

Click on Create a New Connection on the left side of the page.

The New Connection Wizard begins. Click Next to continue.

Select Connect to the Internet.
Click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually.
Click Next.

Select Connect using a dial-up modem.
Click Next.

ISP Name = Type MHTC.
Click Next.

Phone Number = Enter the access phone number provided by MHTC to connect to the Internet. A list of access numbers can be found here.

Note: If you need to dial a long distance number in order to access the Internet, please contact MHTC so that we can give you the correct number to dial into.

Click Next.

If you get the following screen create the connection for “Anyone’s use“, especially if you have multiple accounts set up on the computer.
Click Next.

User name = Type your MHTC account user name (everything before the @).
Password = Type your MHTC e-mail password.
Confirm password = Type your MHTC e-mail password again.

Select Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer. Especially important if you have multiple accounts set up on the computer.

Select Make this the default internet connection.

Select Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
Click Finish.
